The festival begins Friday evening with a balloon glow. The balloons take off Saturday and Sunday at sunrise around 6 a.m. Balloonists participate in competitions such as the "Hound and Hare" race and "Pole Grab". Spectators are encouraged to arrive early if they would like to be on a balloon's chase crew.
